Toujours chercher l’inaccessible,
Toujours espérer l’impossible,
Je voudrais décrocher la lune,
Et pourquoi pas sauver la terre,
Mais avant tout, je voudrais parler à mon père
Parler à mon père...
Je voudrais parler à mon père,
Parler à mon père

Talk to my father

Versions: #1#2
I would like to forget the time
For a sigh for an instant
A parenthesis after the race
And depart where my heart pushes me

I would like to find again my traces
Where is my life where is my place
And keep* the gold of my past
In the warmness of my secret garden

I would like to pass the ocean, cruise the flight of a gull
Think of all this I have seen and go as well to the unknown
I would like to take down the moon, I would as well like to save the Earth
But before everything else I would like to talk to my father
Talk to my father..

I would like to choose a ship
Neither the biggest one nor the most beautiful one
I would fill it up with images
And with perfumes of my trips

I would like to slow down to take a seat
To find at the hollow of my memory
Voices of those people who taught me

That there is no forbidden dream

I would like to find the colours, the paintings that I have inside my heart
Of this decoration in pure lines, where I see you and I reassure myself
I would like to take down the moon, I would as well like to save the Earth
But before everything else I would like to talk to my father
Talk to my father..

I would like to forget the time
For a sigh for an instant
A parenthesis after the race
And depart where my heart pushes me

I would like to find again my traces
Where is my life where is my place
And keep* the gold of my past
In the warmness of my secret garden

I would like to depart with you
I would like to dream with you
To always search for the inaccessible
To always hope for the impossible
I would like to take down the moon
and why not saving the Earth?
But before everything else I would like to talk to my father
Talk to my father..
I would like to talk to my father
Talk to my father..

Sri Lanka: Put war criminals behind bars

Why this is important

On the 4th August 2006, in the midst of civil war, many civilians, including 17 aid workers of Action against Hunger (ACF), were killed in the town of Muttur, in Sri Lanka. Tragically, our 17 colleagues were executed in our office, brought to their knees and shot a bullet in the head. This massacre is not only the most dramatic crime ever committed against humanitarians; it also qualifies as one of the most serious act: a war crime.

None of the three national investigations launched in Sri Lanka since 2006 came to an answer. The investigations were plagued with obstruction, interference of politics in the judiciary, lack of transparency and independence, and procedural irregularities. It is now time to ask for justice by opening an international and independent UN investigation. We must act now! Only a massive citizen mobilization can force the Sri Lankan authorities to be accountable for the horrors of the conflict. We have this opportunity today!

The Human Rights Council of the United Nations will examine the human rights records of Sri Lanka on the 1st of November, in Geneva. In this time of national reconciliation in Sri Lanka, following 26 years of civil war and 100,000 dead, it is our last chance for this war crime not to be forgotten totally. We call upon the members of the United Nations to put an end to impunity. For an UN independent investigation to be finally opened, sign this petition and share with your loved ones. Demand justice!

Our petition will be handed over to the President of the Human Rights Council of the United Nations on 22nd of October.

Peace without justice - not to be a very enduring peace: Canadian Parliamentarian Chris Alexander

n an exclusive interview, Mr. Chris Alexander, MP for Ajax – Pickering, referring Sri Lanka said, Peace without justice - not to be a very enduring peace, that’s the lesson from many part of the world.
He went to Sri Lanka in March, part of the three member official Canadian fact finding mission to Sri Lanka. He said, Canada has major and serious concerns that reflected on Prime Minister Harper, Foreign Minister Baird and others in the government in their policy towards Sri Lanka.
“Human right is not respected by and large… Peace is not a durable one, and the situation will not be satisfactory from our perspective until certain of the major concerns are addressed,” he said.
“We saw north of country and same is true in many part of the east, Military presence that is far greater that what would ever be justifiable in peace time in our country or other countries that claim to have ended a conflict. Local police and civil institutions are far too weak. Local elections are not been held… Far too many credible reports of continuing human rights abuses,” further said Mr. Alexander.
“People disappearing – people facing arbitrary detention in one way another or arbitrary abuses from those in authority - We raise these issues – we expect action – actions have been promised for long time – there is a new action plan put forward by the government this summer – but has not translate into change in the ground,” he said.
Referring to the Canadian position on the Commonwealth summit in Sri Lanka next year, Chris Alexander said, “That’s a deep concern to us – as the Prime Minster said not prepared to attend the commonwealth summit in Colombo unless there is a significant progress in those fronts – we have yet to see that.”
Listen to the wide ranging interview on Canadian Foreign policy issues as well on Canadian economy and foreign investment.

WHAT IS PRAYER ?

"Prayer is one of the greatest tools one can have in the world because it opens the door to a dialogue with God. To pray is to know to whom you are speaking, rather than the form it takes. Prayer means that one is engaged in a dialogue with God in particular. Prayer means that you are beginning a dialogue with the One Who created you, the One who never left you, and you are reestablishing that connection within your mind, within your heart, and giving yourself the opportunity to have a deeper experience with Source. Prayer is the opportunity to transcend the world in any given moment and connect with what is really True and Real. When one chooses prayer, one is choosing to step aside from all that seems to be happening and seek connection with their Father.
"If you say a prayer to God and you stop
--> for a moment and connect with God, acknowledge God, thank God, or appreciate God in the course of that prayer, its function will have been fulfilled. If you say a prayer without acknowledging God or connecting with God in some way, then the function of the prayer is not fulfilled. It does not matter what is prayed for and it does not matter what the outcome of the specific request is because the function of the prayer is to connect with God, to remember Truth, to overcome the dream in that moment. This is not necessarily acknowledged or understood in the moment, but by asking something of One Whom you've never seen and have no proof of, just by that act, you are overcoming the world.
"If you say a prayer because you think you should, because it is the right thing to do, because it couldn't hurt, or out of an obligation or responsibility, again the prayer does not fulfill its function. A prayer can be as simple as "Hello, God" or "Thank You, God" or it can be an unending dialogue about anything you want to share with God. Prayer need not happen in a physical church, but in the church within you. If you are walking down the street, driving in your car, or shopping in a store, and you have the thought to say hello to God, thank God, or ask for something in as light-hearted and casual a way or as serious a way as you feel called, it is all the same.
Many believe they must be serious and reverent in their prayers with God, and yet that is unnecessary. Remembering God in a happy moment as well as a challenging moment is a wonderful blessing for everyone, and to connect with God in whatever place you are is always welcome.
"Prayer is necessary in the process of hearing God's Voice. It is not that you must get on your knees and pray the rosary this many times a day in these particular ways and then you will someday hear God. Prayer is what opens the dialogue. One person has to start talking for another person to talk back. It does not matter who talks first, what is said, where, how, or anything else, though as long as two people sit silently, no dialogue will occur. It could be said that God talks to you at all times, and at some point, you acknowledge that and you talk back and that is prayer. Then you hear God more specifically because you are now engaged in the conversation. Once you start a conversation through prayer, whatever that looks like, the relationship begins..."

Walid's Testimony

My name is Walid. I was born in Bethlehem, Israel. On the day that I was born it was one of the holiest days to Islam, the birthday of the Muslim prophet Mohammad (Al-Mauled Al-Nabawi). This was an honor to my father. For that, he named me Walid which relates to the Arabic word (Mauled) and in English (The Birth) to always remember the birthday of the Muslim prophet.
My father was a Palestinian Muslim who taught English and Islamic studies in the Holy Land. My mother was an American who married my father during his studies in the United States in the year of 1956.
Fearing the impact of the American way of life for their two children and while my mother was pregnant with me, my parents left to live in Israel in 1960 which was called Jordan at that time. When they arrived to Bethlehem I was born. As my father changed jobs, we moved to Saudi Arabia, then back to the Holy Land -- this time, to the lowest place on earth, Jericho.
I can not forget the first song I learned in school just before the Six Day War titled "Arabs Our Beloved and Jews Our Dogs." I used to wonder at that time who the Jews were but with the rest of the kids, I repeated the words without any knowledge of their meaning.
As I grew up in the Holy Land, I lived through several battles between the Arabs and the Jews. The first battle (while we lived in Jericho) was the Six Day War when the Jews captured old Jerusalem and the rest of Palestine. This was a great disappointment to Arabs and Muslims worldwide. Every place in the Military Presence in Sri Lanka's Northern Province

The Sri Lankan government may have won the war against the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam in the north-east of the country, but another protracted struggle is looming on the horizon, that of winning democracy and development back from the clutches of militarisation. In the meantime, for those in the north (and the east) struggling to recover socially, economically and psychologically from the war, the message for the moment at least is clear: reconcile, by keeping your head down, give way to the army, be patient and hope for the best. In other words - "do pretty much what you did to survive the reign of the LTTE".
